The bioMérieux Legal department is looking for a lawyer for its Africa Region. This lawyer, with a legal degree (a Master of Law – LL.M, specialized in International Business law or equivalent in the law of Ivory Coast education) from an English speaking country, will be working in Ivory Coast (Abidjan) to support the Africa Region activities, with frequent travels to the countries that are part of this area, as well as to bioMérieux’ headquarters in France (Lyon).
What will your responsibilities be within bioMérieux?

Be a true business partner and advisor to the head of the Africa Region, thereby providing pro-active and constructive legal advice for the business activities.

Negotiate, draft, validate in an autonomous way templates of agreements relating to sales and purchasing activities of the subsidiaries of the group based in Africa (sales agreements, distribution agreements, purchase of services, logistics contracts), including highly complex transactions and matters in an international context.

Be the Compliance officer of the Subsidiary in Ivory Coast ?

Advise internal clients, including senior executives, in the resolution of their legal issues related to business.

Educate internal clients with regards to the legal and compliance implications of their operational decisions and make sure that these are taken in full understanding of the situation and at the proper level of management.

Defend the company’s interests in the context of pre-litigation procedures and disputes.

Participate in the implementation of, and training on, contractual templates and propose improvements.

Participate in the implementation, monitoring and enforcement of internal procedures, including contracts management, FCPA and export compliance and many other areas.

Train and inform internal clients about complex legal matters.

Be a member of the Executive committee of the Africa region.
Who are you?

Knowledge and skills:

Bilingual in English and French, you already have worked in a multicultural environment.

Having a robust experience in contractual negotiations (distribution/purchase/sale), and knowledge of corporate law; experience in software contracts would be appreciated; you are familiar with and have been managing international activities in the past.

Dynamic, you see and will fulfill your role both as a high value-adding legal business partner, and as a keeper or guardian of the group’s interests.
