Employment Type: fixed term contract

Role Location: Cairo, Egypt, with some remote working arrangements

 

This is a junior legal counsel role designed for an energetic and detail-oriented young lawyer who is keen to grow professionally.

In this position, you will have a great opportunity to build on your existing skills while learning by doing, as you provide support to the business on a variety of legal issues. By fully engaging in this role, you will further develop your critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, while strengthening your expertise in legal business partnering, negotiation, and legal research. You will also gain valuable insight into the business world from a legal perspective, preparing you to take on greater challenges in the future.

You will primarily focus on African markets, with the potential to support additional markets in the Middle East and beyond. You will report to the Indirect Markets Legal Director and work in close collaboration with internal business teams and external counsel in a dynamic, international environment.

 

What will your responsibilities be?

 

Contracting

  • Draft, review and advise on a variety of contracts and legal documentation
  • Update and maintain contract templates
  • Monitor contract renewals and ensure timely execution of agreements

Legal Risk Management

  • Conduct legal research and assess risks related to business decisions and operations
  • Perform initial due diligence on legal matters
  • Support regulatory compliance activities across the region

Training & Awareness

  • Contribute to the preparation of legal updates, training materials, and awareness initiatives for internal stakeholders

Legal Advisory

  • Provide timely and accurate legal advice to business teams, under the guidance of senior legal stakeholders
  • Support legal business partnering across multiple departments

Litigation Management

  • Assist in the management of claims and disputes
  • Support the preparation of defense strategies with the Africa Legal Manager
  • Coordinate documents, information and witnesses for litigation processes

Legal Operations

  • Prepare legal reports and presentations
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing within the Legal department
  • Manage the corporate and contractual repository for Africa

Projects & Programs

  • Support ongoing legal projects and cross-functional initiatives

 

Who are you?

 

  • You hold a Law degree (LLB or equivalent)
  • You bring a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in corporate or commercial law
  • You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You demonstrate solid organizational capabilities, you are proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work autonomously while collaborating with diverse stakeholders
  • You are proficient with IT tools (MS Office, Teams, Outlook, etc.)
  • You are eager to grow professionally and willing to work on regional topics across Africa and potentially the Middle East
  • You are fluent in English and Arabic; French would be an asset
