We are looking for a Field Service Engineer / Field IT Specialist who will work and grow within the Customer Service / Service & Technical Support department. The position is based in Cairo, Egypt, covering Cairo, Alexandria and Upper Egypt.

This is a field-based role requiring regular travel across the assigned territory and remote support whenever needed.

 

What will your responsibilities be?

 

As a Field Service Engineer / Field IT Specialist, you will ensure the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous operation of bioMérieux diagnostic systems while supporting customer connectivity solutions, maximizing system uptime, and delivering a high level of customer satisfaction.

 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Installing, configuring, validating, and commissioning bioMérieux systems.
  • Performing preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, networking, and connectivity issues during field visits and remote interventions.
  • Providing professional support and guidance to customers regarding bioMérieux equipment and systems.
  • Planning and prioritizing field service activities to efficiently address customer needs.
  • Delivering on-site and remote technical support and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Supporting the deployment, configuration, and integration of MYLA, MAESTRIA, LAB ANALYTICS, CLARION, VILINK, and LIS connectivity solutions.
  • Ensuring connectivity and data flow between instruments, middleware platforms, and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
  • Documenting all service interventions in compliance with company procedures.
  • Delivering customer training and supporting system go-lives.
  • Promoting service contracts and contributing to business growth initiatives.
  • Managing spare parts and service tools effectively.

 

Who are you?

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • You bring 3–5 years of field service experience, ideally within IT networking, IVD, or medical device environments.

 

Technical Skills and Behavioral Competencies:

  • You have a strong understanding of laboratory workflows and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
  • You have experience with middleware solutions and system integrations.
  • You possess solid networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and LAN/WAN environments.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, CompTIA A+, ITIL Foundation, or HL7/integration certifications would be an asset.
  • You are skilled in troubleshooting system connectivity, interfaces, and Windows-based environments.
  • Knowledge of HL7 or healthcare interfaces is considered an advantage.
  • Experience in diagnostic equipment installation, preventive maintenance, and repair is highly valued.
  • You demonstrate a strong commercial mindset and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • You have excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • You are customer-focused, analytical, and able to work independently in field-based environments.
  • You demonstrate strong organization, accountability, and problem-solving skills.
  • You are fluent in Arabic and have an excellent command of English.
  • You are willing to travel extensively across Egypt.

In this role, you will contribute to maximizing system uptime and availability, improving first-time fix rates, increasing customer satisfaction, reducing repair times, ensuring preventive maintenance completion, and supporting reliable connectivity between bioMérieux solutions and customer networks.
