What will be your accountabilities?
You will lead and manage our current three strategic R&D joint units (JU) located in France and China and will be deeply involved in the creation of the new JU in Lyon. You will participate in the definition of strategic objectives, drive innovation, foster strategic partnerships, and ensure the seamless integration of our global initiatives across these units. This position is pivotal in advancing our R&D objectives and ensuring our partnerships deliver impactful solutions aligned with our strategic priorities.
For this, you will:
- Manage the teams across the JU with team managers to ensure a cohesive and collaborative teamwork, and set up the future joint unit in Lyon dedicated to microbiology
- Identify new opportunities for innovation and collaboration, propose new approaches and strategies aligned with bioMerieux strategic priorities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, especially with others R&D teams and Hospices Civils de Lyon
- Oversee the operational management of the joint units, ensuring effective resource allocation, budgeting, and milestones monitoring for all the projects
- Bring strong expertise in microbiology, host-response to infections and IVD-related technologies, guiding the teams in tackling complex scientific and technical challenges
- As an Innovation and Partnership leadership team member, participate actively to the definition, the monitoring and the decision processes of innovative projects
What is your profile ?
Advanced degree (PhD, MD-PhD or PharmD-PhD) in a relevant scientific or engineering field, with 10+ years of experience in R&D, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
This critical role requires a dynamic leader with strong translational, microbiological and technical expertise and a proven track record in leading cross-functional and international teams.
Proven experience in managing complex, multi-site projects and driving innovation within an ever-evolving research-intensive environment.
Good understanding of the French academic hospital ecosystem.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English and French, proficiency in Mandarin is a plus.
Strong technical expertise in microbiology, immunology and human biology, including relevant experience in human clinical studies.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strategic partnerships.
Willingness to travel to JU locations, and other global locations as needed.
