Associate Director, Global Medical Affairs - Microbiology

The Associate Director of Global Medical Affairs leads the Peri/Post-commercial Launch Studies (PPLS) program, and the team dedicated to generating medical value and Health Economics and Outcome Research (HEOR) evidence of bioMérieux microbiology products (antimicrobial susceptibility testing, organism identification, blood culture systems). The Associate Director provides medical and scientific expertise to several departments and functions within bioMérieux. This position reports to the Director of Global Medical Affairs for Microbiology.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Medical Planning: Serve as visionary and catalyst for strategic medical planning to demonstrate the value of the bioMérieux diagnostic portfolio focused on Microbiology solutions. Lead activities to align medical priorities, drive successful outcomes and communicate medical value.
Team and Resource Management: Effectively leads a team of Medical Scientists responsible for leading or supervising the Investigator-Initiated Research (IIR), bioMérieux-Initiated Research (BIR), collaborative studies, and evaluation programs. Lead recruiting, onboarding, development, coaching, and performance evaluation. Contribute to the resource and budget management process.
PPLS Program Management: Lead the overall management and operation of the PPLS program. Manage the budget and resource prioritization, allocation, and realization. Assure complete project and study life cycle management. Develop and execute the gap analysis and global evidence gap plan for the microbiology portfolio and solution offerings. Assure the successful planning and completion of studies resulting in timely publications and presentations.
Evidence Dissemination: Drive the communication plan for the evidence generated through PPLS. Create and edit the medical and scientific content of documents and presentations. Attend scientific meetings; assist in planning bioMérieux sponsored events; engage with external subject matter experts. Assist in training Medical Science Liaisons, Clinical Implementation Managers, and Medical Advisors.
Vigilance and Quality Management Systems: Contribute and participate as requested in defining hazard definition and impact, risk analysis, health hazard assessment, post-market surveillance, field action boards, and corrective and preventive actions.
Medical Intelligence and Leadership: Provide medical leadership and/or sponsor strategic cross-functional initiatives, squads, and integrated functional medical teams. Serve as a global representative working closely with regional and local Medical Affairs teams, and key partners in R&D and commercial functions, and externally with medical professionals, societies, and medical organizations. Collaborate with the Microbiology PDP/ LCM Lead in continuous improvement of various processes.
Education and Qualification
The minimum required degree is a Master's with a focus in health sciences – An advanced degree (M.D., Ph.D., PharmD) is preferred. MT/MLS degree or certification is desirable. At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in the areas of clinical microbiology (for example, antimicrobial resistance, and sepsis) and infectious diseases.
Minimum of 3 years’ of project management including timeline, resource, and budget management.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience tracking and presenting the budget and resource status to management and the Finance Controller.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing a team of medical and scientific professionals.
3 to 5 year experience of the hospital/ clinical/ medical environment and designing studies.
You have demonstrated success in communicating medical and scientific outcomes through scholarly achievements with a proven publication track record.
You are fluent in English with excellent scientific writing and oral communication skills.
You demonstrate strong medical and business acumen.
You can take initiative and be comfortable working both autonomously with minimal supervision and as a part of a multicultural, cross-functional team.
You are dynamic and able to build relationships with stakeholders. You demonstrate problem-solving aptitude and analytical thinking.
