Job Title: Medical Science Liaison (MSL)

Reports to: Head of Medical Affairs

 

Job Purpose

The Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) is a field-based medical professional with scientific, clinical and therapeutic area expertise who is responsible for supporting scientific initiatives for marketed and pipeline products on a non-promotional basis. The MSL works in coordination with the rest of the Medical Affairs team to advance medical objectives and ensure the highest scientific integrity in interactions with healthcare stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Scientific Communication and Medical Education
  • Develop and maintain expert-level knowledge of bioMérieux’s products (marketed and pipeline), relevant disease states, and the competitive landscape.
  • Develop and deliver educational presentations on disease awareness, product updates, clinical data, and best practices in diagnostic use—ensuring all materials are evidence-based, fair, and compliant with applicable regulations, guidelines, and company policies.
  • Respond to stakeholder questions and requests with timely, accurate, and balanced scientific information.

2.  Stakeholder Engagement and Management

  • Identify, map, and profile key influencing stakeholders, including key opinion leaders (KOLs), payers, and healthcare institutions.
  • Create and maintain collaborative relationships with national and regional opinion leaders through a clear medical engagement strategic plan.
  • Support advocacy development, speaker bureau management, and healthcare professional (HCP) engagement for medical and scientific events.

3. Evidence Generation and Support

  • Maintain an expert understanding of published, ongoing, and proposed future evidence generation activities aligned with company priorities.
  • Support company-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies through working with investigators and study sites, assisting in study protocol development, material logistics, and contributing to data collection, analysis, and publication.

 

Qualification

  • Education
    • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in a scientific or healthcare discipline (e.g., Infectious Diseases, Clinical Microbiology, Nursing, Pharmacology, Clinical Pathology).
    • Experience in writing or publishing scientific papers preferred.
  • Experience and Knowledge
    • Minimum 2 years of professional experience within the pharmaceutical or in-vitro diagnostic industry, preferably in Medical Affairs or clinician-facing role.
    • Experience in working with KOLs, and familiarity with medical terminology  
  • Skills and Competencies
    • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex scientific information to diverse audiences.
    • Interpersonal Skills: Strong relationship-building and networking capabilities to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
    • Self-Motivation: Highly organized, proactive, and results-oriented; able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.     
    • Technical: Competent in administrative and reporting tools (e.g., CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite) with strong record-keeping and compliance discipline.
